TT Pang Pang Rescue

What’s your favorite animation?

Although it’s true that the US and Japan are the dominant players in the animation industry, there are some Korean animations as well that have been going global recently with the support of the government and other local agencies.

According to the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), the Korean animation “TT Pang Pang Rescue” which will be co-produced in partnership with China has been settled for export to China, Europe and the US later this year.

“TT Pang Pang Rescue” got the sponsorship of the SBA Seoul Animation Center in 2008, and also won Outstanding Technology Award at the “Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) Project Competition” in 2009.

January this year, the animation got a contract with “Studio 100 Media,” a global services and rights company in the family entertainment business based in Munich. The company distributes and places high quality, non-violent, and most importantly, entertaining children’s programming and content. “TT Pang Pang Rescue” is the first Korean animation ever to sign a deal with the company.

Starting with the MIPTV Media Market scheduled in April – a market that takes place annually in Cannes for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content – Studio 100 Media will push forward global promotion and marketing of “TT Pang Pang Rescue.”

Also, a contract for co-production was signed with China Film Group in June 2008. Beginning late this year, “TT Pang Pang Rescue” will be aired through the two countries’ major TV channels, Korea’s KBS and China’s CCTV6. And eventually the animation will be on as many as 44 children’s TV channels in China. Other events and exhibitions are also underway for the China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF) slated for late April.

Now that the government and other agencies are offering active support, many more Korean animations like “TT Pang Pang Rescue” are expected to branch out far and wide to the world!
